Contribution
This paper will present the frame where the study of inclusive practices of successful schools takes place: the INCLUD-ED project, the integrated project focused on schooling of the Framework Programmes. The main objective of INCLUD-ED is to analyse educational strategies that contribute to social cohesion and educational strategies that lead to social exclusion, in the context of the European knowledge based society, providing key elements and action lines which improve educational and social policy. Within the integrated project, the interactions between educational systems, agents and policies are being studied, at different levels and programmes (pre-primary, primary, secondary, vocational training and inclusive special education programmes). Both relevant theories and research on successful school practices and projects are being the focus of the research. Moreover, the relationship between the exclusion from education and the exclusion from other areas of the society (employment, housing, health, political participation) is being studied, as well as the mixed interventions between educational policy and other areas of social policy. Special emphasis is put on investigating how educational exclusion affects diverse sectors of society, and particularly the most vulnerable groups (women, youth, migrants, cultural groups and people with disabilities), and which strategies contribute to overcome it.
