Teachers’ pedagogical practices with and without ICT are assessed by a web-based questionnaire that has been administered in three consecutive years. Results from the 2009 data set will be presented at the conference. This data set is expected to provide information from over 600 primary schools.
The following research questions will be addressed:
• To what extent do the pedagogical practices of teachers in primary education focus on transfer of knowledge and on construction of knowledge respectively? This includes both teaching and learning processes with and without ICT.
• To what extent do teachers in primary education wish to change their pedagogical practices in the near future?
• What are relevant factors at the teacher level and the school level with respect to current and desired future pedagogical practices with ICT?
Results from multilevel analyses will be presented in this symposium. Expected outcomes are that year group, teachers’ focus at knowledge construction without ICT, and their views and skills will significantly contribute to the use of ICT for construction of knowledge, whereas the use of ICT for transfer of knowledge will mainly be influenced by teachers’ ICT related skills and teachers’ focus at knowledge construction without ICT. Apart from this, special attention will be paid to teachers wishing to change their pedagogical practices with respect to the use of ICT and factors at the teacher level and the school level that contribute significantly to these wishes.
