Reflections about European trends in teacher educationNew aspects of E-learning are becoming more and more an important part for teacher education and in-service training in the Teacher Education Universities of Austria. On the background of existing learning theories and according to the aims of the European Union a new learning culture, based on communication and collaboration by new technologies, is going to be characteristic of the content of the specific curricula. We report about an analysis of various E-Learning projects in Austria which was carried out based on a system-theoretical approach. Examples of Teacher Education Universities in Vienna and the Burgenland in apprenticeship in E-learning and blended learning as well as in in-service training, but also frameworks of the ministry of education in cooperation with these institutions can be interesting models for teacher education in Europe: So also EPICT (European Pedagogical ICT-Licence) is an innovative offer, that enables a methodical connection to new media in instruction. But also existing models of European cooperations – such as the graduated college, we present – are able to find out new aspects for an effective, human-tasked teacher-education.
