The concept of Web 2.0 emerged in 2004 and since then the concept has become so popular. Web 2.0 refers the second generation web development and design. Web 2.0 technologies enhance collaborating, creating, connecting, video and audio sharing and active participation. Leaning Management Systems (LMS) used to support courses synchronously or asynchronously. Some LMS have been used lack of characteristics of web 2.0 technologies like video sharing, audio sharing, etc. NETClassR learning management system - developed in 1997 by Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University - is one of the examples for this situation. Users’ awareness of web 2.0 tools needs to be examined for the development, management and continues improvement of the LMS. In order to utilize the benefits of the Web 2.0 technologies in the area of e-learning, the perception of users’ towards web 2.0 tools need to be considered. The aim of this study is to identify users’ awareness of web 2.0 tools and their attitudes towards usage of these tools in a learning management system. Moreover, the study examines intention of different fields (e.g, engineering, education and social sciences) towards web 2.0 tools and identifies the field that is more prone to use web 2.0 technology. The research questions are as follows;
What are the attitudes of users towards usage of web 2.0 in Lerning management system?
What is the awareness level of web 2.0 in higher education?
