The places like national park or quasi-national park are established in order to preserve the areas which have spatial differences. In this way, by preserving these areas it is aimed both to transfer their heritage to the next generation with their features and to open the visitors within the framework of the principles of sustainable usage.
To provide people with information and conscious about the National Parks, and to give them positive and permanent behavioral changes and also to involve them in solving environmental issues by the help of the features of national parks(natural, historical and cultural) are among the main targets of the education of environment.
The opinions of visitors who have visited Historical National Park of Troy in the Province of Çanakkale, National Park of Kazdağı in the Provincies of Çanakkale and Balıkesir and National Park of The Mount Spil in the Province of Manisa are eligible to provide with ideas about the level and the content of the National Park Education in Turkey. This research aims to reveal the opinions of the domestic tourists visiting so-called National Parks on the National Park Education in the country as well as determine which level the country about the National Park Education is. It is also aimed to compare the research results with the similar ones in the western countries and to develop the new projections towards the future about the National Park Education by means of the research results. In the framework of this basic aim, it is tried to address the questions related to the sub-aims listed below.
- What is thought when mentioned about the National Park or special areas like that?
- What is the difference between the National Park and the City Park?
- Do the visitors’ views on the National Park differ according to their sexual, ages, proficiency or monthly income?
- Do the visitors’ views on the National Park Education differ according to their sexes, ages, proficiency or monthly income?
5. As a part of the environmental education in Turkey, how much do the concepts of national park and the education of national park participate in primary and high schools?
6. Does it include of National Park and education of National Park take part in higher education in Turkey?
7. Are there any studies about the concept of education of National Park in informal education?
