16 SES 10 A, Technology WILL NOT Save Education - Views On Teaching, Learning and Researching In The Digital Age
Symposium
Contribution
Learning is an active process of constructing rather than acquiring knowledge and Instruction is a process of supporting that construction rather than communicating knowledge.”(Duffy & Cunningham, 1996). Web 2.0 applications are powerful socialization and communication tools that can support this process of construction of knowledge and can have an incredible educational potential for Foreign Language instruction. In fact, technology, if used wisely, can play a major role in enhancing all language learners' contact with the target language, regardless of their study abroad experiences. But in which way teachers can do a best use of these technologies? A perfect choice for the implementation of the Web 2.0 emerging technology in language learning can be the Webquest methodology that is based on inquiry-oriented activities in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn by the web (March, 2004). This article, in the first part, will focus on the exploration and analysis of WebQuest models in language context according to the literature review, while in the second part will be proposed some new Web2Quest models for Foreign Language Learning.
