EERA was delighted to receive the news that our flagship journal, the European Educational Research Journal (EERJ) has been accepted by the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). This is a significant achievement for the journal and for its editorial board and is a public acknowledgement of the quality of the journal and its contribution to the development of educational research in Europe.
EERA President, Joe O’Hara, welcomed the news stating that 'this is a significant event for EERA and the EERJ and is a public recognition of the hard work and commitment of the editorial board and the joint editors, Eric Mangez and Maarten Simons'. EERA is committed to engaging in research for the benefit of society and EERJ allows educational researchers disseminate their work to wide audience of peers within Europe and beyond. The acceptance of EERJ onto the SCSI is sure to increase the international profile of the Journal and enhance the profile of the excellent work published within it. Finally, this event also recognizes the immense work put into the development of EERJ by previous editorial boards and editors and it should be seen as a collective acknowledgment of their commitment.’
EERJ joint editor, Eric Mangez also commented on the acceptance by SSCI stating that ‘ this is good news that will change the future of the journal. It shows that the journal acquired an Identity, thanks to its specific aims and scope. It now needs to deepen and "cultivate" that Identity. ‘
