Applicants are doctoral and research students who primarily come from or study in EERA‘s member countries. Their research must relate to educational research. The summer school aims to support doctoral students interested in bringing participants' voices and actions to the core of educational research. Preferably the participant should be a PhD/Doctoral student in the first or second year of his/her studies in order to most benefit from the summer school. In some cases, people who already have their PhD can attend the summer school - they should explain in their application how the the summer school would support them in their further research.

The application process includes:

• Abstract of your research
  • Objectives and Research Questions of Your PhD Project (100 words max.)
  • Conceptual Framework (300 words max.)
  • Intended Methodology, Methods, Instruments (100 words max.)
  • Conclusions, Expected Outcomes or Findings (100 words max.)
  • Motivation (200 words max.)
  • References (400 words max.)
• CV
• Letter of endorsement from a current or former supervisor or other senior staff member

Applications can be made beginning 15 November 2024.

Application deadline: 15 January 2025

All applications must be in English.

The Summer School will be held in English.

Participation fee
Participation fee (without accommodation) is 60 € for participants who are currently living in Low GDP Countries and 150 € for participants from High GDP countries.

• Fees include tuition, coffee breaks, lunch and the social programme.

Accommodaton
The EERA Summer School participation fee does not include accommodation. However, with the support of the local organizers at the TU Chemnitz, we were able to arrange reduced prices in two centrally located hotels in Chemnitz. Participants will receive a booking code to register directly with the hotels (details in due time).

• Accommodation in these hotels will include 5 nights (Sunday - Friday) at a reduced price in a single en-suite room, breakfast and a public transport card for Chemnitz Zone 1 for the duration of the Summer School.
• If you would like to book a shared double room with a specific other Summer School participant, you may book this directly with the hotel. If you would like support in finding someone to share a room, please contact dow(at)eera.eu.
• Please note: Booking your lodging at one of our partner hotels is optional. You are free to book somewhere else in Chemnitz if you wish.

Total costs with accommodation

• Low GDP: 60 € (participation fee) + 240 € - 260 € (5 nights single room hotel) = 300 € - 320 €
• High GDP: 150 € (participation fee) + 240 € - 260 € (5 nights single room hotel) = 390 € - 410 €

Each participant is responsible for booking the hotel themselves directly with the hotel. Details on how to book the hotels will be published in due time.

Participants must cover their travel costs. Participants are expected to actively take part for the duration of the summer school.

How is Low GDP status determined?
Please note that the crucial factor for the reduced Low GDP fee is not the country of origin but the country of residence. The World bank data for 2023, GDP per capita is used to deterimine low-GDP status for 2025. A country has low-GDP status when its annual per capita GDP is 70 % or less than the annual per capita GDP of the European Union (for ECER 2025 this means less than $ 28.576,80).

• The registration of participation is binding.
• The participation fees are owed upon registration.
• If you pay via bank transfer, you may incur banking charges for international transactions. Please make sure that you cover these charges so that EERA receives full payment.
• Participation is not guaranteed until full payment of the registration fee is received.
• Payments will be fully refunded if the conference is cancelled by the organiser. In that case, the organiser will have no further liability to the client. Registrations remain valid if the conference has to be postponed.
• The summer school programme may be subject to change.
• Please register and pay by 31 March. In case of cancellation, you will get 80 % of your fees refunded if you cancel up to 1 month prior to the Summer School. If you cancel later than one month before Summer School begin, your fee will not be refunded.
