MC SES 13, WERA Symposium: International Cooperation at a Global Scale – Challenges, Assets for Educational Research
Council Invited Session
Contribution
The WERA-symposium takes up the Conference theme which already indicates the global perspective that is addressed. The focus of WERA-contributions will be on educational research and its interconnections with the (educational) policy field. Traditionally, educational research was strongly related to the national context in which it was embedded. Thus, it was also linked to the national political sphere. Today, it becomes more and more obvious that general problems of education, and thus: of educational research, do not stop at national borders. Consequently, international research cooperation is, or could be, an adequate strategy for dealing with transnational, even global problems of education in research. But do we comprise of the necessary ‘tools’ for the respective research strategies? What are the assets and benefits, what the constraints for international cooperation at a global scale? – The contributions to these questions will be based on practical research experience in research groups, especially on prerequisites for their success.
