Contribution
The paper focuses the relation between teaching and learning in the field of global learning. The empirical research presented in the paper investigates the orientation and learning processes of adolescents concerning global issues in different educational settings. The research question of the project was: How do adolescents create their knowledge about the world? What are the world views and ideas of adolescents about global perspectives? In which ways do they deal with the complexity of world society? Underlying this question is the assumption that knowledge is socially constructed. The qualitative-empirical research – based on documentary method (Ralf Bohnsack) and the theoretical framework of the sociology of knowledge (Karl Mannheim) - focuses in particular a comparative analysis of learning processes in different educational settings like school lessons in different subjects, school based extra curricular activities and non-formal youth work outside school. From the reconstructive description of the perspective of learners, i.e. the description of how adolescents construct knowledge and orientation concerning global issues, conclusions regarding didactical questions in terms of how to teach global issues are drawn.
