The role of diaries has become one way of monitoring and enhancing the personal development and performance of professionals. Today three distinct models of diary are familiar in everyday life: the intimate journal, in which private thoughts and opinions are recorded uncensored; the memoir—an impersonal diary, often written with an eye to publication; and the log, which is a kind of listening of events with relatively little commentary. However, such a distinction is difficult to maintain.
Various models of language teaching/learning have been studied internationally. This paper draws on a longitudinal project of language teaching models used by teachers of Arabic speaking immigrant and refugee children in Sweden. This project took a scrutinizing look at models used in two Swedish schools.
A number of different research techniques have been used and in this paper, I present some preliminary results from the diaries
