Girls and boys meanings and practices about citizenship are gender-differentiated. And as we can observe, this different discourses and practices still strongly built on a gender-neutral conception about citizenship and on traditional gender roles. The aims of this research project, named "curriculum and citizenship - ways of doing and practice from Portuguese primary school girls and boys" - are: identify different discourses and practices about citizenship and, at the same time, work with this girls, boys and teachers the possibilities to (re)construct new meanings and practices that could improve theirs citizenship. We are assuming children's as social actors and, giving them voice, we want to reflect about their owns ways of (re)construct school curriculum and citizenship. In this communication, we present some methodological reflections and strategies, namely ethnographic incursions crossed with focus groups discussion, as a contribute to the visibility and empowerment of these girls and boys that are (in)formed as citizens.
