An exemplary study of the possible applications and the transfer of aquired media knowledge in institutions of adult and further education. Nobody denies that technical innovations have clearly changed teaching and learning and will continue to do so. This is also relevant in the field of further education. Teaching and learning with new educational media change traditional patterns of the organization of learning and teaching in adult and further education. By using new media in further education new demands are made on the teaching staff: The professional use of the new media makes new demands on educational decision-makers and teaching staff (organizers, syllabus planners, teachers). They must be able to operate new technology and to put it to good use. This requires comprehensive knowledge of the media, a certain degree of technical know-how as well as the competence to properly assess the potential of the new media against a pedagogical and psychological background and didactic criteria.. ENTER is an internet-based further educational programme. In four modules the participants acquire wide-ranging skills in the use of modern media. The course is aimed at graduate staff and heads of departments working in the field of adult and further education. ENTER consists of four online modules extending over 12 months. They take up the largest part. In four modules the participants acquire the necessary knowledge concerning teaching and learning with modern media and experience themselves what learning on-line is like for participants. The participants complete the further educational programme ENTER by developing their own media project (final paper). Most of the participants intended to realize this project in their institutions as well. One year after the end of the programme the participants were asked (questionnaire and interview) to what extend they (can) put their new knowledge into practice (transfer of acquired knowledge) and if they could realize their media project or which factors aggravated or stopped it. The results of this study which is currently being evaluated shall be presented on this conference.
