Contribution

The Leonardo Eval3 project undertook an initial analysis of web-based literature of American, European and Australian e-learning evaluation reports in English, French and German. The analysis revealed that the existing research is very limited and can be grouped under seven main headings. " Case studies of specific e- training programmes " Comparisons with traditional learning " Tools and instruments for evaluation of e- learning " Return on Investment (ROI) reports " Benchmarking models " Product evaluation " Performance evaluation The project partners undertook an extended literature review to analyze of existing research. The aim was to generate a reporting framework and a classification system for existing e-learning evaluation and to map existing research and e- learning evaluation reports and outcomes onto the framework. This paper will report on the outcome of that work and will draw out lessons for research and practice in the evaluation of e-learning
