Contribution
In this Symposium, the connections of freedom, education and power will be addressed from different angles: Michael Peters' Paper "Education, Freedom and Power: Third Way Governmentality, Citizen-Consumers and the Social Market" contrasts Foucault's notion of freedom as a practice of the self (and in terms of freedom from State forms of individualization) and considers Foucault's analysis of "law and order" in the neoliberal problematic of government, as a means for understanding contemporary education policy.
