Description: The topic of the paper is use of transcendental and postmodern pluralism approaches in moral education curriculum , and the study of incompatibilities between them. Therefore the title of paper is "Between postmodern pluralism and transcendentalism : A Dilemma of Moral Education". Research question: Are there incompatibilities between postmodern pluralism and transcendentalism in moral education? If yes; what are those? Can we integrate and use of that tow approaches synchronouse in one moral education curriculum( integrated curriculum)? If yes; how? And if no;why ?Purpose: In this paper my purpose is respond to above questions. Objective: The objective aspect of this paper is finding some ways of integration between a pluralistic curriculum of moral education and transcendental curriculum of moral education.Theoritical framework: The theoritical framework of this paper is study of possibility of integration of different approaches of moral education (as tow paralles approaches) in one curriculum and making use of those approches in a synchronouse curriculum. Abstract : Moral education as a part of educational system, although has always enjoyed a prominent status and priority throughout the history , it has continually faced various problems and challenges much more than other parts of educational system.Amongst these challenges are problems such as the interpretation of equivalence of moral education with lack of personal freedom , alienation of philosophical and religious fundamentals of moral education with realities of people's lives , unfoundedness of moral education on the principles of moral development , existence of diverse and partly antithetical models of moral education , uncertainty to the possibility of moral education , uncertainty to the epistemological validity of moral knowledge , predominance of traditional methods and approaches to moral education and their resistance to scientific , psychological , and social changes , and finally the uncertainty to the efficacy of moral education principles and methods.Today , the growth and development of postmodern pluralism and its influence on differnet fields such as education have caused moral education to be faced with newer challenges amongst which the struggle between postmodern pluralism and transcendentalism are to be mentioned. Now , the basic question is that whether there are incompatibilities between aims , methods and principles of the pluralistic moral education and aims , methods and principles of the transcendental moral education? .and what are these incompatibilities ?.Whther postmodern pluralism should really be regarded as a challenge to transcendental moral education? Other possibilities such as the ways to eliminate this incompatibilities or to integrate both of them in one moral education program or curriculum are investigated.Regarding to the epistemological and religious foundations of transcendental moral education and non-metaphysical considerations of pluralistic approach , and with regard to moral principles drawn from the above foundations , we can reach some moral education principles , aims and methods which are deeply contradictory and incompatible. These incompatible aspects are found in aims , methods and principles of moral education and they will continue to remain if we regard transcendentalism and postmodern pluralism as to parallel approaches. The incompatible aspects are presented in the following table: Approaches Postmodern Pluralism Transcendentalism Nature of moral education aims Internal, Aesthetical, Local, Emotional, Situational , Contingent, Accidental General, Universal, Absolute, Fixed, Trans-Situational Methods of moral education Linguistic-Centered, Experience-Based, Democratic and Interactive ( conservation and discourse) Authoritative, Exampl and Model -Based, Exhortative and Expectative Principles of moral education Perspectivism, Relativism, non-paternalism, Decenralism, non-totalitarianism, Delegitimation of Meta Narratives Universalism ,Absolutism, (epistemological / religious),Centralism,Rationalism, Representationalism, fundamentalism(metaphysical/religious))) Methodology: According to the nature of this title and paper ( analytic and qualitative) ), the research method of this paper is qualitative method and the sources used for it, are academic journal , books , thesis and personal analysis. Conclusions: There are some incompatibilities between postmodern pluralism approach of moral education and transcendental approach of moral education. Therefore, we can 't integrate and use synchronouse that tow approaches(as tow parallel approaches) in one moral education curriculum and making use of them in one moral education curriculum( integrated curriculum) need to some reforms in those tow approaches. These incompatibilities aspects are found in aims, methods and principles of moral education and they will continue to remain if we regard postmodern pluralism and transcendentalism as tow parallel approaches.
