Symposium
Contribution
The paper will disclose the implications of the introduction of the sectoral-occupational standards and Lithuanian Qualifications Framework to the designing, provision and awarding of the engineering qualifications (in the construction engineering and IT sectors) in Lithuania. The main research questions are: What are the implications of the introduction of competence based sectoral-occupational standards to the curriculum design of the bachelor and master-degree studies in engineering? How the introduction of sectoral-occupational standards is expected to change the organisation of study process and integration of theoretical studies with and practical training and work experience? How it is expected to change the requirements, criteria and process of assessment of competences and awarding of professional qualifications after the graduation of study programmes? Research methodology is based on the analysis of literature and methodological materials in the field of higher education curriculum design, as well as on the case study of the introduction of sectoral occupational standards in the fields of construction engineering and IT in Lithuania. It will involve interviews with the representatives of professional organisations, enterprises, students and universities.
