‘Learning in the Global Era’, ‘Globalizing Education’, ‘Globalization and Education’ are the post-modern terms that allude to the interplay between globalization and education in the new millennium. Although times change, comparison is always illuminating and suggests the possibility of choice. (Bateson, 1928) Given the current globalization of education, it is but imperative to look beyond the borders and examine the impact that globalization has on educational systems. Specifically, this research focuses on defining and analyzing what ‘learning in a global era’ means and the implications for education of globalization, while looking at the educational culture of the United States and India for the sake of comparative analyses. The theoretical perspective that informs this research is Postmodernism.

Method

The method used for the research is comparative analysis, with the primary mode of investigation being document analysis of pertinent journals, articles and books.

Expected Outcomes

The expected outcome of this research is to provide a usabale definition of the term global-learning, to understand the impact of globalization on education and comprehend how it plays itself out in the eastern and western hemisphere.
