Symposium
Contribution
SCY (“Science Created by You”) is a European project involving 12 partners, from 7 countries (NL, NO, FR, DE, CY, EE, CA). Its aim is to deliver a system for constructive and productive learning of science and technology. SCY uses a flexible and adaptive pedagogical approach to learning based on “emerging learning objects” (ELOs) that are created by learners. In SCY-Lab (the SCY learning system) students work individually and collaboratively on “missions” which are guided by a general socio-scientific question (for example “How to design a CO2 friendly house.”) The first mission has been described with a graphical language scenario and a pedagogical plan, the tools needed are already developed, and a prototype of SCY-Lab is running. The domain of the mission is physics and mathematics. A pre-test of this mission was done with 100 students from France, Cyprus, and The Netherlands, in 2009 with several tools already developed. A test will be done in spring 2010 to test assessment and webquest (CY), Argumentation and students’ experimental design (FR), ELO-Based learning (NL), collaboration with or without technology (NO), and domain inquiry skills (EE). In the symposium we will present the first results of SCY experiments in schools.
Method
Search the ECER Programme
- Search for keywords and phrases in "Text Search"
- Restrict in which part of the abstracts to search in "Where to search"
- Search for authors and in the respective field.
- For planning your conference attendance you may want to use the conference app, which will be issued some weeks before the conference
- If you are a session chair, best look up your chairing duties in the conference system (Conftool) or the app.
