Annual Report 2011, Berlin
The main activities of Network 12 in 2011 took place during ECER in Berlin. Our network offered four sessions with a wide range of topics. We started the conference as every year with an overview of recent developments in educational research in several European countries (contributions from Britten Ekstrand about evidence-based teacher education in Sweden, from Olivier Rey about reorganisations and financial restrictions of educational research in France and from Alexander Botte about the German strategy on virtual research environments).
Furthermore we had a paper session with two contributions from Chiara Ravagni entitled «The description of educational objects: building a set of metadata for the Erickson e-value project» and from Christian Wolf dealing with «Developing bibliometric indicators of research performance in the area of vocational education and training research».
The highlight of this year’s conference was the cross-network session together with network 16 «ICT in education and training». The rather large audience had the opportunity to attend four very interesting presentations about information literacy: «Assessing information literacy skills» (Chiara Ravagni), «Information literacy and technology to improve learning and education» (Ton Mooij and Ed Smeets), «Management vision, cumulative affordances, and student autonomy» (Colin Harrison), «Teachers’ search for information in a professional context» (Angela Vorndran).
