The ECER conference in Belgrade was another good year for NW27. In comparison to the ECER conference in Nicosia, 2024, there were more submissions, 105 in total. The rejections rate was 29 %, which is among the highest for ECER, but still in line with the established reviewing routines of the network. The final program comprised 20 sessions, 60 papers, 5 posters and 1 ignite talk. 2 joint sessions with network 31 were successful and led to the decision to plan joint sessions with network 31 in 2026, but also to get in touch with network 13 (Philosophy of Education) and network 34 (Research, on Citizenship Education).
The 2025 special call of the network (Teaching and Learning in Times of Uncertainty. Didactics, societal demands and individual needs in a changing world) was well responded to with 53 submissions and will be repeated for the ECER conference 2026 (with slight adjustment to research methodology).
The Tuesday morning workshop, maintained by Laura Tamassia and Anatoli Rakhkochkine, was well attended, received very positive feedback and will be planned for 2026 as well.
The round table ”Connecting with Serbian Research in Didactics“ could not take place, due to the fact that the Serbian colleagues could not conduct research since November 2024.
The network again discussed risks of political situations in host countries, travel costs and green travel restrictions.
Information was given on the upcoming ECER conference in Tampere (Knowing and Acting: The changing conditions and potentials of education research) which will take place from August 17 to August 21 2026. As it will be the 20th anniversary of the network, there will be a panel discussion on the past, present and future of didactics and its research. Further there will be 4 (or more) symposia, a Tuesday morning workshop and the round table ”Connecting with Finnish Research in Didactics.
The convenors‘ team has changed. Marte Blikstad-Balas stepped back as a link convenor, Anke Wegner took over. Laura Tamassia accepted to become the new deputy link convenor. May Jehle; Mainz, accepted to be nominated as a new co-covenor, and she was elected. Further co-convenors are Georg Breidenstein, Halle; Benoît Lenzen, Geneva; Florence Ligozat, Geneva; Eva Lundqvist, Uppsala; Matthias Martens, Köln; Anatoli Rakhkochkine, Erlangen-Nürnberg; Gérard Sensevy, Rennes.
Overall, this was another good conference for Network 27. There is a strong interest in didactics across the European community of researchers, and the N27 members are looking forward to the next ECER.
