ECER 2024, Nicosia In 2024, the network invited submissions to a special call titled 'Social imaginaries of the future: the making and unmaking of certainty in education'.
The keynote lecture was held by Pieter vanden Broeck on The Algorithmic Management of Learning.
The network received nearly 80 submissions (although 19 were withdrawn later). Altogether 49 presentations were held in the network programme, 26 presentations addressed the theme of the network special call.
Professor Nelli Piattoeva stepped down from the co-convenor role. On the network meeting, with the unanomous votes of the participants, Dr Jitka Wirthova became our new co-convenor.
International and European Summer School on Social Studies in Education (July 1-5. 2024)
EERA’s Network 28 has organized another Summer school for PhD students and post-docs. This year, the event was held from the 1st to the 5th of July at the Maison Interuniversitaire des Sciences Humaines Alsace (MISHA), University of Strasbourg. More than 40 international PhD candidates and research fellows, as well as more than 20 researchers from all over the world - China, Brazil and several European Universities, attended the event. PhD candidates and research fellows could learn from new theoretical perspectives used in sociologies of European education, but also participate in different learning activities (« present your PhD », writing portfolios and scientific texts) that helped them reflect and enrich their own research methods and concepts. Some informal activities were organized as well: the visit of the European Parliament, a guided tour of the city of Strasbourg, and a social dinner, where students could taste the local specialty - « tarte flambée ». It was also supported by the University Federico II of Naples (Italy), the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), and by different non-European Universities (Federal University of Minas Gerais, State University of Bahia, Federal University of Pelotas, and East China Normal University).
