The high-quality ECER in Bolzano was a very stimulating and supportive context for the Gender and Education Network (GEN) activity. It provided an opportunity for the GEN to conduct well prepared and well-attended sessions and symposiums. Apart from the network sessions, joint sessions and symposiums with the networks related to gender issues were especially valuable and well-received. Joint sessions and symposiums with the network Didactics – Learning and Teaching and the network Research in Sport Pedagogy were an effective format of meeting researchers from different disciplines which enabled a more comprehensive coverage of gender issues and provided an opportunity to broaden future collaboration of the GEN. The Network was invited by the Emerging Researchers' Group to organise a network workshop for the Emerging Researchers' Conference in Hamburg. As a result of this cooperation, the GEN has developed a network workshop proposal for the Emerging Researchers’ Conference.
One of the highlights was also the network scientific workshop on the Gender and Educational Journal which is an important link of the Network to this respectful journal. A concern for the women’s rights and equality in education is an important activity of the GEN. Of particular importance was sending a letter of concern to the Hungarian Minister of Education in regard to the Hungarian government’s attack on women’s studies.
