ECER 2024 in Nicosia proved to be a successful and engaging conference for Network 8, drawing a significant number of high-quality submissions. In total, we received 64 submissions, of which 48 were accepted (42 as papers and 6 as posters). The submitted work was of a commendable standard, spanning a diverse array of themes central to health and wellbeing education. Our network offered a robust program, including two valuable joint sessions with Network 4 (Inclusive Education) and Network 26 (Leadership in Education), facilitating interdisciplinary discussions and collaborations.
The conference provided a crucial platform for members to share their expertise, connect over shared interests, and explore opportunities for future projects. In particular, we identified potential avenues for network funding, as well as special issues in our partner journal, Health Education, with which co-convenor Carole Faucher serves as co-editor. In response to our growing network activity, we encouraged members to consider contributing as co-convenors, and shared the criteria and responsibilities for these roles at the Network Meeting. Interested members are invited to reach out to Link Convenor Catriona O’Toole for more information.
Commemorating ECER’s 30th Anniversary
To mark the 30th anniversary of ECER, co-convenor Venka Simovska contributed a reflective piece to the EERA blog, which traced the history, evolution, and future directions of Network 8. This piece serves as both a celebration and a forward-looking vision for our network’s ongoing role in advancing health and wellbeing education.
