Annual Report 2023, Glasgow

ECER 2023 was held in in Glasgow at August 22-25. Network 9 organized 20 paper sessions, a joint paper session with NW24 and a joint paper session with NW27, one symposium session, one joint symposium session with NW12, and one research workshop. The attendance of the sessions was good in general and the discussions were rich and interesting. Authors of the Network 9 submissions accepted for ECER 2023 were from 23 countries, reflecting the international composition of conference presentations. In addition, the NW9 programme included a keynote speech as an invited contribution.

Invited this year was Professor Samuel Greiff from the University of Luxembourg on the theme of “International Large-Scale Assessments and Education in the 21st Century”. He engaged with the network members in a discussion on 23 August 2023.

The network meeting took place on August 24 and the attendance was great. There organisation of ECER 2023 was great, there were no serious technical or other issues at. Below follows the list of the 20 paper sessions which were held in Network 9 by topic (in alphabetic order):

Further contribution to the network programme was a research workshop with the theme “Getting started with R in RStudio” by Erika Majoros and Monica Rosén in the organisation of the research school “School of Quantitative Research Methods in Education” (QRM).

In terms of offers for capacity building and professional development, members of Network 9 gladly continued supporting the Emerging Researchers’ Conference (ERC) by participating in the review process and by serving as mentors for sessions in the ERC 2023.

  • The joint symposium in collaboration with Network 12 had the theme “Accessing Data for Educational Research: Research, Best-Practices and Practical Implications for Researchers.”
