School Visits

In recent years, educators around the world have shown much interest in the Finnish educational system because of the success of Finnish students in the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) surveys.

Conference participants will have an opportunity to get acquainted with a Finnish comprehensive, upper secondary or vocational school. School excursions include classroom visits, discussions with teachers and lunch with students. Please note that the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 15 per school.

Travel to the schools will be by minibus. The minibuses will leave from the outside of the University main building on the Senate Square at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday, 24 August, and Friday, 27 August.

Fee: 15 €

Includes:

  • Transportation from the conference venue
  • Meeting and discussion with teachers and students
  • School lunch together with the students at the school refectory
  • Transportation back to the conference venue

Number of participants per each group: minimum of 8 and maximum of 15.

Duration of the visit:

The activity at the school stretches from 10:00 to 12:00, and the journey to/from the schools takes between 15-30 minutes depending on the school location.

Registration:

You will be able to register for one of the visits when registering for the conference. In the registration form you will be asked to select one of the 8 trips, see above.

Cancellation details:

  • Should you not be able to attend the school visit, please let us know as soon as possible.
  • Should you have to cancel both ECER and school visit participation, the cancellation policy for ECER participation is valid for all fees you paid.
  • If you only have to cancel the school visit and do so on or before 29 July, the full fee of 15 € will be reimbursed.
  • After 29 July, the whole fee will remain with the organisers.
