Building Creative Minds by Visual Thinking Strategies

Creativity is the skill of 21st century and needs to be worked hard on.  It is an undeniable problem all over the countries that schools or educational systems kill the creativity of child’s natural creativity like their curiosity. This idea sharing speech will focus on how visual thinking strategies can be used to build creative minds as well as discussing related literature findings. Creativity and its implications for inclusive classrooms will also be emphasized and discussed.

CV

Graduated as physics teacher and turned into science teacher educator in her 24 year long academic experience. She attended Bogazici, Marmara and Pennsylvania State Universities in Turkey and US respectively for her undergraduate and graduate studies. Her PhD is in the area of Curriculum and Instruction with special emphasis on elementary science education. She worked in  Marmara, Yeditepe, Sakarya Universities and now she is a professor of science education in Yıldız Technical University.  Her area of study shifted to educational needs of special children due to her own child with autism. She has several articles and book chapters in Turkish and English both in science education and education of children with autism.
