International comparison for cooperation in education research - historical perspectives and actual challenges
The desire to create education systems in the best possible way has been driving educational scholars since the foundation of school systems as we actually know them. A relevant part of their strategies was cross-border exchange, drawing inspiration from outside one's own system. International comparison and collaboration, thus, is a tradition in what we now call education research. Prof. Gogolin will introduce you to this tradition of cross-border interaction, the change of its scope and aims over the last 2 ½ centuries, and discuss the forms of ‘global’ influence on the conception and design of schools we experience today.
