Tuesday Morning Workshops

ECER 2025 will host a number of EERA Workshops which will take place at various times Tuesday morning between 9:00 and 12:15. The exact times can be found in the description of each workshop.

As the workshop sizes are limited, participants will be required to register for most of the workshops in advance. If registration is necessary, you will find the link to the registration tool in the green box under the description of each workshop.

Terms of booking:

  • Only ECER participants are eligible to register for one of the workshops. ERC registration only is not sufficient.
  • Please do NOT register for more than one workshop, as the events run in parallel.
  • We reserve the right to cancel invalid registrations and double bookings. 
  • The reservations will be given out on a first come first served basis.
  • Should you not be able to attend, please cancel your reservation, as there might be a waiting list.

This workshop follows the steps required to fulfil a systematic search process and explains how to choose the right databases, manage complex research questions, structure the search process, and choose suitable search terms for comprehensive queries.

In this workshop we will address the question of how theoretical and conceptual frameworks underlying research in didactics can be made explicit. What kind of “glasses” do we have on while studying teaching and learning, and how does this affect what we “see”? How can we become aware of this and elaborate upon it when communicating our didactical research?

Since 1998 ECER has been a household name for (European) educational research and especially for emerging researchers. It provides a platform for presentations and discussions of current and past issues from multiple different (disciplinary) perspectives. Its database of over 30,000 contributions over 25 years – including the bibliographic parameters (i.e. authors, EERA-networks etc.) and abstracts – represents a unique window into the field of educational research and it’s (historical) thematic developments.

This workshop will explore the importance of understanding and including race and gender in European educational research. It will give some context and provide illustrations of the diverse ways in which race and gender intersect in complex ways that are often hard to identify and classify. The presenters will give some examples of what happens when race, gender and their intersections are not acknowledged in research.

This workshop is designed for researchers and practitioners willing to learn about computer assisted qualitative and mixed-methods research. This hands-on session will comprise the presentation of the main options available for coding and extracting meaning from data using MAXQDA. Workshop participants will grant the possibility of testing different options, ranging from the more traditional approaches to automation using MAXQDA’s AI Assistant, an important tool for supporting research activities.
