How do e-journals use the potential of the converging media technologies? Seminar.net has a video presentation as a vital feature of its communication. The assumption is that a short introduction presented on a video makes the reader more interested and that he/she reads the paper with more enthusiasm. The editors also believe that giving the reader a face to link to the text adds value to the reading experience.
The paper looks into which strategies the various contributors have chosen and how the presentations have been received. However, our statistics show that the average time spent by each visitor, is less than two minutes. This implies that few spend time watching the whole video/s. This suggests that most visitors go for the text and that the videoabstract plays a lesser role.
The reader’s responses on the video abstracts, together with the statistic of visitors will be discussed upon this and other e-journals initiative to use converging media technologies.
