This project is focused on what kinds of teaching and supervision student teachers need in order to develop into self-reflective, competent professionals in action. The concern of the project is partly the assumption that many teachers in their first years of work are more likely to "handle", rather than "manage", the complex every day work in the elementary school, and partly the fact that quite a large group of teachers leave the schools after a relatively short period of teaching. The project is focused on the student teachers' work with practice before, during, and after practical training. Results and perspectives from the first year of research will be presented at the Conference.
