Phenomenology is a research model that derives from the area of philosophy. First appeared in the middle of 20th century as a philosophical movement and later on after considerable transformations end it up as a qualitative research model. The disciplines of sociology, psychology and education are mainly those that elaborate and integrate this model at their research. In the discipline of education have been introduced by Carl Rogers in the decade of '60s through his anthropocentric model of work.Central core of phenomenological model is the subjects' experience with the phenomenon under study. In this experience is hidden the essence and the meaning of the phenomenon. In order to elicit this essence the researcher should bracket all his personal experiences with the phenomenon under study and focuses to the way that subjects under study experiences the phenomenon. In this paper will be presented the theoretical background of phenomenology through a review of its philosophical routes and the practical one through the application of phenomenological approach in the inquiry of an educational phenomenon. The phenomenon under study is children and adolescents' attitudes toward cigarettes ads.Details about the research procedures related to phenomenological model, such as tools for collecting information about the inquired phenomenon, stages of analysis and description's forms of findings are also developed through this paper.
