Contribution
In the LAROM project an inquiry, containing 200 items, has been constructed to measure teacher students' social background, attitudes, and opinions. 1303 students answered the inquiry. They were studying at three different universities in Sweden and two teacher education seminars in Denmark. In the paper I discuss different ways do build indexes with high reliability from groups of items. These indexes were then used for hierarchical cluster analysis classifying students into groups with internal homogeneity. This data was then the basis for developing hypotheses concerning teacher education in Denmark and Sweden.
