Recently the Pedagogical Institute designed the Unified Cross Curricular Syllabus Framework and programs for the planning and developing activities for nursery school for the compulsory education and the corresponding analytical programmes for every step. Many of the basic principles of this programme express the fundamental principles of citizenship education. For the training of the educators to such programmes, already such programmes are under way on behalf of the official state.Is that though enough so as to guide the educators to accept such programmes? Should we perhaps look into the attitudes of the educators themselves for the citizenship education?Our concern is related to the group of Greek nursery schools teachers and investigates the know ledges, attitudes and skills for the application and consent to this programme.Specifically the present survey will look into the knowledge, representations, attitudes as well as the practice of nursery school teachers for the active and responsible citizen.In the survey which is already under way, nursery school teachers from a district from a preschool education in the capital city and from the district in the province are taking part.For the research of representation, attitudes and records of nursery school teachers two tools were used:1. A questionnaire which measures the attitudes and representations of nursery school teachers for the citizenship.2. A second questionnaire which looks into the appropriate developing records of nursery school teachers in their class.The survey is expected to show that the nursery school teachers do not possess the required knowledge, representation and skills - fact which is depicted in their practice too- for the citizenship so as to apply the new programme essentially.
