Description: The object of research - youths' who come to vocational schools motivation.The aim of research-- to explorer the youths' motivation, for coming to vocational schools, motivation of such choice and further learning plans.The main tasks:
1. To make clear motives what encouraged youths to choose professional school.
2. To mark positive and negative differences what see students between a comprehensive and a vocational school.
3. To abstract, what students are planning to do after finish vocational school and what they have further learning plans.The hypothesis of research:- Schoolchildren who enter to higher vocational school levels have higher marks average than schoolchildren who enter to lower vocational school levels.- Schoolchildren who had vocational orientation lessons are more satisfy of learning in vocational school. - Schoolchildren who get social support have learned better in comprehensive school and they spend more time preparing for lessons in vocational school.- Most of the students who learn in vocational school class themselves to people whom "make ends meet" and theirs family incomes for one person is only to 250.More than half students of vocational schools would like to continue studies, after finishing vocational school. Urban students and students who gets financial support would like more to continue studies.
Methodology: Methodologies of research:- questionnaire survey; - statistic data analysis. It was used programmable packet of statistical analysis SPSS 10, also Ms EXEL - the hypothesis was checked by Kruskall Walis and by counting Chi square.Questionnaire was spread for 1232 students, who study in different vocational schools in all Lithuania regions. Schools for survey were selected from ten regions by separate types, and which has the biggest and the least number of students. It should be mentioned, that 902 respondents returned questionnaires. The returning of questionnaires is 73,53%.
Conclusions: 1. The hypothesis that schoolchildren who enter to higher vocational school levels have higher marks average than schoolchildren who enter to lower vocational school levels was proved.
2. The hypothesis that schoolchildren who had vocational orientation lessons are more satisfy of learning in vocational school was proved.
3. The hypothesis that Schoolchildren who get social support have learned better in comprehensive school and they spend more time preparing for lessons in vocational school was rejected.
4. There are no differences between separate vocational school levels and how its students class themselves by common family social state. Students of 2nd level separate from others by incomes for one family person. Theirs family incomes are higher that students who learn in 1st and 3rd level. So the hypothesis, most of the students who learn in vocational school class themselves to people whom "make ends meet" and theirs family incomes for one person is only to 250 was rejected.
5. The hypothesis that more than half students of vocational schools would like to continue studies after finishing vocational school was proved, but it can't be affirmed that urban students and students who gets financial support would like more to continue studies.
6. The main motives, which determine students decision from all levels of vocational schools are:a) A wish to get quicker speciality and to be independent;b) Less learning load;c) Poor average of comprehensive school marks and understanding that, further learning in secondary or higher school would be too difficult;d) Comprehensive school's teachers and parents suggested choosing vocational school.
7. The selection of vocational school is not determined by school image, qualification of teachers, friends' recommendations, or financial support.
8. The most of 4th level students learn in the vocational school, because they didn't enter to a college or the university.
9. Boys more often choose a vocational school than girls by paying respect to friends' opinion.
10. Students of vocational school determined this main positive differences by comparing secondary school and vocational school:
a) Procurable secondary school education together with speciality;
b) Easy studying and less loads of learning;
c) Getting scholarship;
d) Better (more reasonable, tolerant, attentive) teachers;
e) A possibility quicker to become independent.
11. Students mentioned the main negative differences comparing secondary and vocational school:
a) Bad vocational school image;
b) Negative society attitude to a vocational school;
c) Leaning environment is noisy and there is no discipline;
d) Too less learning load.
12. Youth after finishing vocational school would like:
a. To work and study (40,4 %);
b. Further to study in a college or an university (45,2%);
c. To g abroad (22,8 %);
d. To continue studies in higher-level vocational school in this possibility are more interested the 1st level students.
13. The students of all levels after finishing vocational school would like to study further, because they feel theirs qualification is not enough.
