Contribution
In the Netherlands, there is a tendency towards increasing autonomy of schools and, influenced by this, a rapidly growing number of schools is redesigning its curriculum. In our contribution to the symposium we start from the notion that in order to arrive at a coherent school-wide curriculum there is a need for curricular leadership. Meaning that people who are involved in curriculum redesign efforts at their school (school leaders, team leaders and teachers) need to: * start from a collective school-wide rationale; * arrange initiatives in the context of the overall curriculum; * critically reflect and evaluate the work and revise it when necessary. In our contribution we will discuss the notion of curricular leadership in more detail and will present findings on how schools deal with this kind of leadership and the problems and needs they are coping with
