Symposium
Contribution
The Creative Connections Project in the Catalan context has allowed the entry of Contemporary Art in the lives of the participating schools and has contributed to the following issues: -The discovery that artists reflect and provide artistic visions of social reality. This has allowed young people to transfer that discovery to his everyday life, through artistic visions on issues that affect them and that intersect with reality. -There has been a demystification of art by the students, who has broken with preconceived ideas and a lack of knowledge of current artistic practices. - This also has affected the teachers, who decided to expand their own inquiry processes and the ways to position themselves not only in the art class but the entire class projects. As narrative thread of this presentation we will refer to the different encounters and experience with contemporary art, which has manifested with: visiting contemporary art exhibitions, the observation of a database of European artists provided by the Creative Connections project and the process of producing their own art works. Our proposal is focused on how contemporary art has contributed to rethink the relationship of students with themselves, their environment and the school.
