Éducation et Sociétés is the means of expression of French-speaking scientific circles of sociology of education. These circles created in the 1980s have a deep linguistic and epistemological unit, but also true differences as far as political organisation is concerned. The latter have made it necessary to question methodological nationalism very early. European construction is a good object to start elaborating a second critical moment : to question the new common sense, to diversify viewpoints regarding justice, to understand the renewal of forms of domination… It should be first appropriate to examine a number of ambiguous notions : a diversified education offer, individualised paths, core skills. These notions are presented as numerous renewed means adopted by the democratic project ; others see them as proofs of the emergence of a post-comprehensive policy. Just as the 1980s French-speaking sociology analysed how school failure became a political issue, it would be possible to denaturalise a certain number of self-evident facts about the new context like skill standards or international ratings.
