Session Information
28 SES 08 A, National Sociologies within the Big Spaces: Reflections on Progress of Some European and International Journals
Symposium
Contribution
In a first part, we will analyze how the thematic issue published in educational sciences journals evolved these fifteen last years and we will see at which time they seized the problems of big spaces. We will wonder why the first number on this thematic delayed and appeared these five last years, contrary to what occurred in journal from other disciplines like sociology. We will see that the new questions asked by big spaces reconsider differently the old questions like school drop-out or the inequalities. In a second part, we will show how the educational sciences analysis, produced these last five years, concretely analyze effects of big space on national systems of education. With this intention, we will study the work published in three thematic issues of the journal Carrefours de l’éducation. We will show how the big spaces and their promotors construct new cognitive frames and the recent effects of these frames on the schools climate and the recomposition of the schools governance through the effects of the creation of new devices (such as quality evaluation mechanisms) at the national and local level.
