WERA SES 09.1 KN, Can We Know too Much and Change Very Little? The Uses of Educational Research and Evaluation
Keynote
Contribution
The objective of the presentation will be to explore the uses of the results of educational evaluation, understanding "use" or "utilization" of the information from educational evaluation, as the deliberate actions that make diverse audiences of such information, whenever it is incorporated as an input in their activities, in their various scales and contexts of action.
The topic of the uses of information has important issues to be solved, from the supply side as well as from the demand side. The appropriate uses of the educational assessment should be encouraged from the supply side, since it does not arise automatically or spontaneously from the demand side. Therefore I will characterize the demand and the supply of information and also the main concerns present in the literature, such as arguments with regard to the denomination of uses of educational assessment, the different types of uses according to their purposes, among others, and I will contextualize the theme as part of the topic of evidence based policies.
