Paper Session
Contribution
Nowadays, a lot of people move to the Czech Republic from different countries, and their children start to go to Czech schools. The problem of education of foreigners is now very popular and topical.
Сooperation and communication of the student's family with school staff are necessary for the successful studies of each child, where the parents’ opinion towards Czech education plays a significant role.
The purpose of this research is to identify present relations between Czech schools and Russian families. This problem will be analyzed in the framework of acculturation process.
Acculturation is considered as a dual process of cultural and psychological
change that takes place as a result of contact between two or more cultural
groups and their individual members.
At group level, it involves changes in social structures and institutions and in cultural practices. At individual level, it involves changes in a person’s behavioral repertoire.
These cultural and psychological changes come about through a long-term process, sometimes taking years, sometimes generations, and sometimes centuries. Acculturation is a process of cultural and psychological changes that involve various forms of mutual accommodation, leading to some longer-term psychological and sociocultural adaptations between both groups.
The research also will describe the differences between Russian and Czech schools as seen by Russian parents, and how they react to those. Among other topics, the paper will point out the pros and cons of studying in the Czech Republic, in their opinion, and what are their main requirements for the overall education of the child.
