Contribution
It is very important for Belarus as a European country to integrate its national educational system into the European one. For this reason EU studies is an important means that bring Belarus closer to the EU values and competences in higher education. Development of academic course "Environmental management in EU" will directly impact the corresponding values, skills and competences of bachelor students of Minsk Branch of MESI. However, interdisciplinary courses (such as Environmental management) are very rare in Belarus Universities at Faculties of Economics and Management. The course will be integrated into curriculum and published as MOOC available to other interested people.
Environmental management includes different topics that seeks to understand the interactions within and between global, social, environment and human systems, the complex mechanisms that lead to the degradation of these systems. Environmental management includes activities in different areas and demands changing the approach to learning. MOOC will be available to any interested person in internet. It will be also possible to make feedbacks to course materials and review its content.
Comparative research of Belarus and EU curricullum on Environmental management has demonstrated that at present only small topics are presented in Belarus curriculum disciplines, which do not cover the interdisciplinary and problem specifics of the field and considerable experience of EU in development of environmental management at enterprises, at small and medium business and at territorial level. However, this subject is very topical in Belarus. Moreover, EU is the second greatest economic partner of Belarus and its share is steadily increasing. This implies new challenges for higher education to train new generation of managers and economists.
