Symposium
Contribution
Findings of a mixed-methods study on the situation of female students with disabilities studying at eight first generation universities across the country are being presented. The study was part of INEDIS, an international research collaboration in higher education, and has been conducted during the academic year 2017/18 and consists of a data set of 117 questionnaires and 40 qualitative data sets. The findings will be presented against the background of a thorough literature review supporting findings of the high interrelation of being female, being poor, and being disabled. Drawing the conclusion that more than 40(!)% of the women involved in this study have been subject to sexual violence, the study offers recommendations on how to foster a safer educational environment.
