Session Information
10 SES 01 A, Publishing in Academic Journals: advice and guidance
Research Workshop
Contribution
This workshop will provide advice and guidance on how to ensure that research is relevant and suitable for publication in academic journals in teacher education.
The presenters of the workshop are both editors of the international, peer-reviewed journal, The Journal of Education for Teaching (JET). Both are also widely published as senior academics and have considerable experience of research mentoring.
This interactive workshop will consist of practical advice on publication in general, but the main focus will be on publishing in academic journals.
Using JET as an exemplar, aspects of the workshop will include: choosing a journal for publication, taking into account a variety of factors including impact; crafting an article for submission including adopting appropriate linguistic styles, formats and structures; responding to reviewers' comments; and publicity and dissemination of the work through a variety of media.
As part of the workshop, participants will be asked to contribute and discuss one of their current research projects from which they wish to publish in the future.
