The research atempts an ethnography of this on-line project from January 2010 to April 2011.The Vital Programme provides a site for access to CPD on-line courses for teachers; provides courses itself; provides an on-line community access for the investigation of education related to CPD http://www.vital.ac.uk/ Ethical Issues investigated concern access, permissions, participation of researcher, lurking. Research Foci • The institutional identity - The member/s acting on behalf of a school or institution. • The teacher identity. • Group/member relations. • Relations with the VITAL leaders Methodology Reflexive accounts of belonging to this CPD virtual community will be analysed, alongside fieldnotes using: 1]Email exchanges 2]Selective on-line/telephone/face to face recorded conversations with individuals. The sample included regular members, infrequent and temporary members. Sex, age and status were recorded. 3]Field notes from the researcher after or at the same time as listening to/watching on-line exchanges. Analysis will be framed within the categories of Acts, Activities, Meanings, Participation, relationships, Interrelationships, Settings: Outcomes 2010 • The development of this methodological paper for publication • The construction of a paper on the kind of CPD internet community developing during the year.
