Daily work for a university student makes him/her to face a number of situations of strain that increase his/her stress levels and which make him/her ask himself whether he/she is prepared for student life.
Stress is the physiological, psychological and behavioral answers of an individual who seeks adaptation and readjustment to intrinsic and extrinsic pressures, all these, situations that imply an everyday effort. Low stress levels don´t necessarily have to be problematic for the individual, but when there is an overload of stressful situations some problems appear, problems that, in the case of college students, are associated to a lower or reduced development in their competences.
There are many and varied aspects which can stress a college student. Focusing on the academic environment, the everyday work that is carried out –exams, readings, essays, studying,,,-increases the anxiety levels of the individuals. This is an aspect that can also be magnified by another crucial element: the academic self-consideration. The combination of all these situations makes the individual to see his/her own emotional state, health and interpersonal relationships altered. The immediate consequence is most evident in the reduction of his/her concentration levels, attention and reduction of his/her academic achievements.
Different research have given importance to this fact, although there are less of those researches that propose strategies which could be carried out in the classroom in order to reduce the college student´s stress.
We understand the classroom as the ideal place to work with this problem. It is necessary to set a work methodology integrating, on the one hand, the processes of achievement in the developed field´s competences with, on the other hand, leading actions towards the decrease or disappearance of stress.
