99 ERC SES 05 A, NW 07. Social Justice and Intercultural Education Workshop: How to develop decentering research strategies?
Network Workshop
Contribution
This workshop, organised by Network 7 "Social Justice and Intercultural Education", invites emerging researchers to explore strategies for decentering dominant narratives and amplifying marginalised voices through collaborative and contextually sensitive research methods such as participatory research. Drawing on the collective expertise of experienced researchers at different stages of their careers, this interactive session will provide insights into how to adopt reflexive practices that challenge researchers' own positionalities and biases.
By sharing experiences in this way, the workshop will critically address the challenges of inclusive methodologies, including the risks of reinforcing power asymmetries, perpetuating tokenism and inadvertently othering marginalised groups. Through case studies and practical exercises, participants will explore how participatory methods can disrupt Eurocentric frameworks and co-create knowledge that is socially just and interculturally responsive. The workshop will conclude with a discussion on how emerging researchers can integrate these Practices into their work, contributing to research that provide spaces for socially just research paradigms in education.
This session offers a unique opportunity to deepen methodological understanding, build reflexive skills, and connect with a network of scholars committed to advancing social justice and intercultural education.
