The aim of this paper is to establish to what extent Portuguese General Inspectorate of Education (GIE) are attentive to contextualizing efforts made by schools. The specific objectives of this research are: To advance the understanding of contextualization processes used in education field practices. To clarify the concept of curricular contextualization in use by GIE To identify connections between contextualization concept and others related such as curricular sequence school subjects’ articulation. To identify contextualization practices used. To analyse the contextualization effort to develop core curriculum Reports are our main research material. Those documents reflect the school experience on designing and implementing core curriculum, seen by an external view. Furthermore, we have working on the subject, focusing issues as: curricular sequence; school subjects’ articulation; curricular contextualization, that is to say, all the ways that teachers improve in order to make core curriculum relevant. 20 school reports, coming from different administrative sector of (GIE) are under scope. Content analysis is the main technical instrument used.
