In research I conduct a research group in several different projects is focusing research communication, research based education or communication between research and the political dimension. Looking at research communication when it comes to research methodologies we have asked ourselves if research methodology the last decades is rarely critically studied, considered and discussed. It seems that contemporary methods and approaches are one-sided. In other words that some approaches have become “the one and only” and on the other hand some is rare. Trying to get a picture of the field the empirical material looked into is collected and characterized out of three scientific international journals within the field of higher education. How about frequency of articles focusing research methodologies or research methods in higher education in these kinds of journals and when they appear what research methods are raised or perhaps questioned? The result is discussed in the light of theories about critical reflexivity and quality in educational scientific research and in its extension questions are raised about consequences in higher education.
Method
