Symposium
Contribution
This contribution presents the outcomes of multilevel analysis in the context of the results of the European Collaborative Research Project (ECRP) ADDITION. The main research questions was, if it is possible to identify certain concepts, strategies and methods of teaching and in school, which contribute to a better acquirement of math achievement of pupils with a disadvantaged socioeconomic background and with migration background. The dynamic model of educational effectiveness by Creemers and Kyriakides has been used as a starting point and as a theoretical framework for the analyses. As the results of a pre-study already evidence it is expected that the multilevel analyses with the ADDITION data will identify certain concepts, strategies and methods of teaching and on school level that contribute to a better math achievement of pupils with a disadvantaged socioeconomic background and with migration background. This contribution indicates that it is important to consider the composition of pupils in the classroom when conducting related studies and analyzes. This work can be seen as a basis for further research in this field for fostering the learning success, especially for pupils with a disadvantaged socioeconomic background and with migration background.
